While I am on hiatus from pulpit activity, my thoughts and prayers are toward our church family and the body of Christ.
In the midst of the ever-turning wheel of time, we face the challenge of remaining true to God’s word, His standard, His expectation for His people. Beware of the growing threat of syncretism that has crept in unaware through political
correctness, inclusivity and diversity. 1 Timothy 4: 1 – 2; 6: 3-5; 2 Timothy 2: 16 – 18,23 NKJV.
This is not an indictment or referendum on diverse culture. It is to say that we are subject to wander from the absolute truth of God’s standard of right and wrong, holiness versus humanism when we allow cultural diversity shape our thinking toward the sovereignty of the one true and living God.
This postmodern, post Christian season has been, and is fueled by the popular notion that accepting different cultures means accepting varied world views about life, living and ultimately about Christ – the Son of the Living God.
So, what is syncretism? Syncretism is simply a melding or an amalgamation of varied thoughts or philosophies. In short, an attempt to marry sound Christian doctrine to and with any world view that is in conflict with the word of truth. See John 1: 1 – 3, 14; 14: 6; 2 Timoth 2: 15 NKJV.
Beware of those who practice, entertain, espouse or tolerate any form of syncretism. Mark those who cause offense(s) see Romans 16: 17 – 20. NKJV, means more than those who hurt one’s feelings or is offensive in their deportment.
It means, beware, take note, distance oneself, have limited interaction with those who offend the standard of holiness! Those who attempt to dilute the efficacy of the word of truth are an offense to the Christ, His Cross, and to His church!
Do become and remain steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the truth of God’s word: 1 Corinthians 15:58 NKJV.
May the grace of our Lord continue to abound in our lives.
Grace and Peace!
