Consecration Fasting Instructions for optimum benefit
Isaiah 58
According to Matthew 17: 19 – 21 fasting and prayer are essential tools available to the
church.
During the period of consecration and fasting please consider the following ideas for a
meaningful experience.
Do not approach the worship and preparation of fasting as a list of do’s and don’ts
regarding your diet. However, we abstain from food, drink, activities, communications that will feed our
natural tendencies, thus limiting our potential to strengthen our spiritual beings.
The twenty-day period will be a Daniel fast.
No sweets, (avoid adding sugar) to coffee, tea
No delicacies: desserts, rich foods
No alcohol or tobacco
No meat, chicken. Fish is Ok (avoid fried)
Focus on vegetables and rice. No mac & cheese.
Use wisdom: if certain health conditions prohibit an aggressive fast regimen, pray
and consult your physician.
Avoid unprofitable conversations (judgement and gossip)
REMEMBER: the idea is to deny oneself anything that will satisfy one’s flesh.
See Daniel chapter 1: 8 – 17
Do not bring attention to yourself to draw attention toward your fasting.
Stay refreshed. Anoint yourself. Keep your face, lips, mouth clean.
1. PRAY: ask for revelation.
Repentance is essential for being a cleansing of mind, body, soul
2. Start the morning with focused, intentional scripture reading.
I suggest reading through Proverbs. Two chapters per day will coincide with the
fast period. You will complete the book before the fast has been completed.
3. Focus each day on a particular need:
Salvation (family, friends, community, etc.)
Healing: (physical, emotional, psychological, spiritual, social, familial)
Revival: (churches, communities, country, nations)
Church leadership: Pastors, Deacons, Teachers.
Raise proper 5-fold ministry activity (according to the scriptures)
Add/multiply to the local assemblies such as need to be saved and such as
are needed to be successful in all ministry endeavors.
Encourage next gen participation and preparation for leadership
V.I.P. Pray the Lord God will reveal and remove any/all hindering spirits, according to
the scriptures.
Use the scriptures to assist in personal bible study as you research appropriate
scriptures for daily focus re:
Church discipline
Leadership qualifications
Spiritual warfare
Right worship
Youth development

Any other thoughts that may be brought to your spirit are welcome if they are aligned
with scripture and the vision of the house.
The general vision is that the church be the church according to the scriptures, for the
saving (spiritual, social, etc.) of souls through preaching, teaching, missions work, small
group ministry activities, 1 st . at home. 2 nd . To the community, 3 rd . to the outside world.
See Matthew 28: 19 – 29; Acts 1:8
Expect God to honor our sacrifice
Expect God to move according to His plan(s)
Agree that God has the last say
Praise Him in advance
Thank you
