Morning Manna
Many countries, corporate entities, and sadly some churches rely on the democratic system of majority rules.
The flaw in the system is clearly illustrated in the account of the twelve spies in Numbers chapter 13.
The Sovereign God directed Pastor Moses to send a delegation of leaders, one from each of the twelve tribes of Israel to spy, (check out the land) “that I am giving you”. The report that came to the camp was decidedly opposed to the Hebrew people’s receipt of the promise that God said was theirs for the taking. Ten delegates, ten leaders, ten men of God, heads of families, reported in the negative.
“Can’t do it”.
“It will never work.”
“The people are too big.”
“We’re too small.”
Only two men, Joshua and Caleb (the minority), affirmed the promise of God.
The majority rules, right? Wrong.
It seems too simple. The Word of God to our hearts is most valuable in this hour of humanism, relative truth, and post modernism; common sense, philosophical assent, mother wit, post Christian culture. Solomon wrote: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path”. Proverbs 3: 5 – 6.
The Psalmist wrote: Some (the majority) trust in horses. Some (the majority) may trust in chariots, but we (the
minority), will trust in the Name of the Lord our God. Psalm 20:7
Decide to be on the Lord’s side. The majority may be numerous, louder, popular and seemingly more powerful. Always remember, the Lord, our God the Almighty reigns.
That makes us the majority!
